The Poet's Inn at 35 Jackson is an 1879 Victorian Second Empire whole house rental on Historic Jackson Street in America's oldest seashore resort, Cape May, NJ. This three story, 7 bedroom home comfortably accommodates 20 people, and is nestled between Jackson Street beach and the Washington Street pedestrian mall in the heart of Cape May. This Victorian gem boasts a wrap around front porch, a third floor deck overlooking the Victorian rooftops, a private backyard with a patio, and plenty of off street parking!

Enjoy your vacation at the Poet's Inn at 35 Jackson! This impressive Victorian Empire home was designed and built by local architect and contractor, Enos Williams, in 1879 and ushered in the Victorian splendor of Cape May after the devastating fire of 1878. The newly renovated Poet's Inn at 35 Jackson has restored the home to its original splendor and welcomes guests to relax and socialize in both the comfortable first floor living room or the adjacent sitting room. The spacious dining room and updated, fully equipped kitchen invites up to 20 guests to share memories and meals together. A new HVAC system with individually controlled bedroom thermostats keeps the house comfortable during all seasons. There are 7 bedrooms (one on the first floor, 5 en-suite, and 3 with televisions) and six bathrooms equipped with showers (two of which also include full bathtubs). The private, fenced in backyard includes a patio, grill, 2 outdoor showers, a mini-putting green, and a ping pong table. The amenities at the Poet's Inn at 35 Jackson ensure a care free, comfortable stay in the heart of Cape May. 

The location of the Poet's Inn guarantees a relaxing and exciting vacation in America's Oldest Seashore Resort. Jackson Street is the first and most historic street in Cape May. Grand Victorian houses flank the horse drawn carriages that parade down its gas lit streets. There are NO booking fees and NO taxes when you book a reservation directly through our website.

Credit cards are accepted (an additional, non-refundable 3% service fee will be applied to total amount charged).

As is the case with most NJ shore rentals, you must provide your own linens (sheets and towels). We provide pillows (in protective vinyl covers), mattress pads, blankets and quilts. 

If you want to save yourself the hassle of packing linens, there are several local companies who will rent linens. Please click on "Linen Rentals" in the top bar of our website for details and pricing (may be within the "MORE" tab). 

This property is pet-free (for guests).

This property is non-smoking, both inside and out (of any material or form). 

To keep our home beautiful for your enjoyment, a cleaning fee of $420 is charged per reservation. 

A refundable security deposit of $1,200 is also collected with each rental.

Cancellation policy: Cancellations at least 90 days before arrival are fully refundable. Cancellations between 60-89 days before arrival are refunded 50%. Cancellations less than 60 days from arrival are non-refundable.


Location

Enjoy a day in the surf and sun on pristine Jackson Street beach, only a half a block away. Walk or bike on the breathtaking two mile long beach side promenade. Dine, shop and stroll along the Washington Street pedestrian mall, which is also a half a block away. World class restaurants and nightlife surround you. Within just a few blocks you can walk to all the Cape May ocean beaches, the Convention center, two theatres plus a dinner theater, three miniature golf courses, two arcades, and historic Congress Hall. Enjoy a short bike ride, scenic drive or perhaps a trolley tour to the Cape May lighthouse, Sunset Beach, the WWII tower, Emlen Physick's Estate, Beach Plum Farm, and nearby wineries/distilleries. Adventure and nature activities abound, like parasailing, surfing, deep sea fishing, bird watching, whale/dolphin watching and harbor cruises. A short drive will also bring you to the Cape May Zoo, Wildwood or Ocean City boardwalks, movie theaters, golfing, antiquing and visits to other quaint nearby shore communities.
